DUALITY OF PERCEPTION //
Overview
"Duality of Perception" is the solo show by Portuguese artist AKACORLEONE, presented under the "Temple of Light" theme at FREVO Gallery in NYC. The work explores the interplay between opposites — light and darkness, day and night — and the beauty that emerges where they meet.
Our studio was commissioned to create animations based on AKACORLEONE's illustrations, augmented reality interactions with the physical pieces, and a promotional video for the event.
THE VIDEO
We rebuilt AKACORLEONE's pieces in 3D and scaled them into an architectural form — turning his flat symbols into the structure of a temple set within a dystopian landscape.
The concept reframes his iconography as relics of a forgotten civilization, an artistic interpretation of the Temple of Light theme at the heart of the show. The result gives "Duality of Perception" a cinematic world of its own — extending the exhibition beyond the gallery and into a space built entirely around its mythology.
MOTION GRAPHICS PIECEs
Alongside the temple film, we animated AKACORLEONE's full set of illustrations from the show — bringing his static artworks to life as a series of motion pieces built to promote "Duality of Perception" across social and digital.
Each animation takes a single illustration and resolves its duality in movement. The result gave the gallery a steady stream of content to roll out ahead of the opening, building anticipation for the show through the artist's own work in motion.
